I hope this doesn't come back to bite us in the ass a few months down the road.

I do see the bright side of this by giving thousands of people jobs and giving them some hope, but reemploying Baathists could be a risky tactic. I guess we will just have to wait and see how this plays out.

Me either, but there are reasons to believe this could work.

As you say, Hank, we'll have to wait and see.

BTW-You realize, of course, the whole plan is suspect due to it's having been linked to FOXNEWS?

Doomed to failure for sure, now.

It seems to me that to allow these people to re-integrate back into their society is a sign of good faith on the part of the coalition forces.

There are obviously dangers involved in doing it, however with any luck they will be outweighed by the advantages and the move towards returning power to the people of Iraq.

This is such a good idea I suspect the UK must have suggested it, but allowed the US to announce it.

One hopes it is a step in the right direction.

Im sure it will improve things such as education and administration etc.

If you look, many didnt have any choice but to belong to the party, such as Teachers.

Others no doubt joined as it was the safest thing to do for themselves.

Many members of the Nazi Party in WWII, werent actually Nazi's...its just that life was much safer for them if they were in the party, than it would have been if they weren't.

This is certainly no less a possiblity than any other.

Perhaps Mr. Holmes could be resurrected in order to render an opinion?

Oh please, how can one resurrect a man who is not yet dead?

Think about the context Jpol, an "investigation"?

We need a legendary deceased Holmes who will uncover the source of the idea, got a clue yet, Scotland Yard boy?

    Holmes

All that he is missing is a damn fine hat and pipe.
Aren't we in the trust tree, thingey?

You two make quite a pair; kind of a high-brow Stan-and-Ollie thing, ya' know?

If I were to join, it could be a Larry, Moe and Curly escapade, huh?

    I'll be, um...Moe, okay?

    Hobbes

    Fair point, well presented.

Instead of resurrecting a chap who has not yet died, which would be preposterous, we will resurrect one who never existed.

I could only think of one Holmes who was a legend, it was Eamonn. If you can think of another please enlighten me.
