    i dont wanna reformat. ill loose everything! i dont wanna dl all of it again!

    Why? I only format & re-install when there's no other option and the systems I tend are all running without problems - well, excluding old Ash's pr0n & dialer infested machine; I've told him not to let his grandkids loose on it while he's on holiday, but will he listen?

    Have you checked that Windows isn't clearing the pagefile on shut-down?

    THIS PAGE tells you how to enable the clearing process. Presumably, a value of 0 would disable the feature.

    it already is at 0&#33; the "DisablePagingExecutive" key right under it is set at 1. maybe i should set that to 0 also?

    Why the exclamation mark? I didn&#39;t say it was your problem, merely suggested you check it. You have checked it and it&#39;s turned off - it&#39;s eliminated from the equation.

    Simply put, the paging executive pages data to disk when it thinks it&#39;s not going to be needed in a hurry.
    I would recommend turning it back on (set to 0) because you&#39;ve only got 256MB RAM.
