Why? I only format & re-install when there's no other option and the systems I tend are all running without problems - well, excluding old Ash's pr0n & dialer infested machine; I've told him not to let his grandkids loose on it while he's on holiday, but will he listen?Originally posted by backlash@1 May 2004 - 15:48
reformat and start fresh!should do it once a year anyway.

Have you checked that Windows isn't clearing the pagefile on shut-down?Originally posted by 3223@1 May 2004 - 16:15

THIS PAGE tells you how to enable the clearing process. Presumably, a value of 0 would disable the feature.Originally posted by 3223@1 May 2004 - 22:36

it already is at 0! the "DisablePagingExecutive" key right under it is set at 1. maybe i should set that to 0 also?
Why the exclamation mark? I didn't say it was your problem, merely suggested you check it. You have checked it and it's turned off - it's eliminated from the equation.Originally posted by 3223+3 May 2004 - 21:15--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (3223 @ 3 May 2004 - 21:15)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'>it already is at 0! Simply put, the paging executive pages data to disk when it thinks it's not going to be needed in a hurry.
I would recommend turning it back on (set to 0) because you've only got 256MB RAM.
