No thanks - I lack interest in the 6800, principally due to its outrageous price tag.

Nevertheless, research at http://www20.tomshardware.com/graphi...416/index.html, witnesses the fact that the 9600 Pro is often defeated by its counterpart, the 9500 Pro or even 5600 Ultra.
although it maybe overpriced, when new graphics cards come out the older ones go down in price. Normally it is about 10-25%

if you have the money, 9800 pro's have dropped in price quite a lot. you can pick them up for just under 200 dollars on sale on newegg or many other outlets. and that will last you for at least a year or more to come for the latest games.

but between the two... 9600 pro all the way.

5900XTs are great for their price. Like $180 last time I saw. I think its because they still have 8 Pipes so they run really fast. The 9700Pro is $180 also, I would go with that.

I have a preference of opting for a GPU that features 256MB of RAM. In my research, I stumbled upon the term "Data Width" on numerous occasions - what does it signify? In addition, I found it to be existent in two variants: 128/256-bit.

Furthermore, is Data Width of any significance, as I am now subsequently making a selection from either the GeForce FX 5700 and the Radeon 9600 XT - which does not possess the feature of a Data Width of 256-bit.
