Well Im using SP1 right now, I don't seem to see any bugs.

thats cause sp1 is in full release

sp2 is beta , and beta is an unfinished and still in testing product , as said use at own risk

A few weeks ago, at the request of my buddies at the local comp shop, I installed SP2 ( right from an official MS disc they had gotten at a MS seminar).

It adds a few icons to My Computer, most notably an Internet Firewall icon.
The firewall is enabled by default (I disabled my ZoneAlarm Pro for this test).

Unfortunately, clicking on the icon does nothing...I always got a message saying "sorry, cannot access firewall settings".

The firewall became increasingly aggressive at "blocking" intrusions, to the point where I could barely access the net at all.

I suppose that, looked at one way, it was very effective- no access=no security issues.

SP2 is gone now.

Can hardly wait to see the final release.

Well, I still think it's a good idea M$ is finally releasing their service packs for testing before hand, not to mention being able to suggest things. Developers can deal with problems before they arise, and the people may actually get a better Windows (to some extent )

All-in-all, I think Microsoft is finally learning to trust the people who actually use their software. Now, if Windows only went open source.

think maybe you meant RC1 no?, and if so and you dont see any bugs, SPECSAVERS dude, your eyes have gone, good luck to ya, enjoy it, but what are the benefits you can see tho, cos I couldn't see a single one, but I aint all that computer savvy, so maybe I missed the point of it all. All it did for me was stop a few programmes working and give m$ more control over my pc, seemed to me like the decisions about my pc And its security were out of my hands and into the hands of sp2, I dont think it's a case of m$ trusting the people who actually use their software, more a case of them not trusting themselves to get it right so getting joe bloggs and devs to weed out the problems for them. They should just keep that beast firmly locked up until it's proven to work, or at least until it's proven to actually do anything at all, and after reading all the stuff at the top, I still have no idea what it does. and if thats the best review you could find for installing the thing, excuse me but 'bollocks',

Immediately after installing you're brought to a screen that asks you if you want to enable automatic updates. There is no way to exit this screen without giving either a yes or no answer. This is GREAT.

Oh spiffing and wonderfully marvelous it is, lets you make a choice it does.

reminds me of an old song i once new "Smells like TCG Spirit" give it a year at least, let them sort out thier own mess, bet you a tenner it wont be ready this year anyway, like SH says at your own risk. I've tried it it's totally crap ,

What's the filesize of SP2?

I remember SP1 was about 180MB. I'm just wondering if SP2 is anywhere near as big.
