    Yeah but Celerons and Durons have less L2 Cache also, So if this is the budget chip for socket 745, then it makes since for it to have less...but it still sucks. I would like to see 512

    I re-read the article, and I noticed that AMD have not released any details of the processor (ultimately according to VIA), but the source of the 256KB L2 cache info remains only as "sources at Taiwanese motherboard makers".

    Also, AMD is supposedly hoping to stop production of socket A chips "soon", so I can't see them giving a performance edge to Intel for no good reason. I suspect that someone at "Taiwanese motherboard makers" didn't realise that the current chips have 512KB L2 cache, so they came out with what they thought sounded about right.
