Thread: S.video Help Please

  1. #1
I would like to connect my Compaq laptop with DVD Combo and Video S. Socket to my TV which doesnt have a Video S input. It DOES have PHONO input though, and I wonder if this would be any good to input from the DVD?

I am in the Philippines and have been told that it isn't possible. Certainly I can't find any lead with Video S on one end and phone plugs on the other here. Is Video S only for use with a TV that has a Video S. socket, or is there a way of doing it?

    Can anyone help please?

its pointless unless you don't have a rca out on your laptop, you gain nothing by useing s-video when you down-convert it to rca

you maybe able to use one of these too m8 if you have a scart socket

then set the output to composite video,

some tv's have svhs throught the scart so you maybe lucky...

it wont work that way, i have exactly the same connector and a compaq laptop, an dit doesnt work on mine, the picture is only in black and white.
it works on my tv with a s-video in, but not any other ones, i keep meaning to get a s.vhs-rca connector.

Many thanks for the replies guys.
Sorry to say tv does not have a scart, but have found an adaptor on the site that SingaBoiy gave. Chances of it actually getting here are pretty remote, but have ordered it anyway.
Thanks again for all the help.
