Thread: Ripping Software

    My cd drive is a 'Samsung RW Combo' and can play DVD's(of course), but CAN NOT 'burn' video. Can I get a DVD to AVI ripper to work?

    yeah - if it will read, then you can convert dvd>avi or dvd>kvcd

    if it burns audio cds then it will also burn vcds/kvcds/skvcds

    tmpeg should suit you fine for going avi>vcd though if you want to go dvd>vcd the best bet is to go to www.doom9.org > guides > backup > kvcd > DVDx

    youll need to *ahem* "buy" CCE (cinema craft encoder) and it tells you how to get dvdx for free..

    its a pretty easy to use guide, and its a reasonably good method, giving good quality results.


    If you want to put a film from a DVD to a "CD", then you should look at a 2 disk svcd, but you should play with the settings until you find something which suits you...




    oh, and for CCE, try k-lite/bittorrent/etc. its def around somewhere, about version 2.66/2.67 - make sure to apply the patch when you get it, else you will end up with an annoying picture in the corner of the film
