Thread: Nintendo Ds

    Just for reference : The Nintendo 64 specs anno 1996

    CPU: 64-bit R4300i RISC (93.75MHz) / 64-bit data paths, registers with 5-stage pipelining
    Co-processor: 64-bit RISC (62.5MHz)
    RAM: 4MB (36Mb) upgradeable (-> 8MB max)
    Graphics: Pixel Drawing Processor (RDP) built into co-processor
    Colors: 16.7 million (32,000 on screen)
    Polygons: 150,000 per second
    Resolution: 640x480 pixels
    Sound: 16 to 24-channel 16-bit stereo (up to 100 PCM channels possible)
    Now I wonder if they'll just trump the CPU or make it more powerfull in every field.

    True polygon games on a handheld ? Playable ones, even ?

    I ancticipate that Nintendo will use something in similarity to Compact Flash - so we can resume the trend in downloading free GameBoy games.

    A little respect for the elderly, please - they started designing that thing when 2D games were still "cutting edge"

    I predict the touch screen won't work for shit after about six months of playing. Have you ever tried to use the ones they have in public places? They suck.

    The plastic cover above the power light - the one you're not supposed to touch ? Take it off and you'll see a placeholder covering the second RAM slot; you needed to buy an expansion pack, use the plastic spoon-thingy that came with it to remove the placeholder, insert the pack and voilą - instant RAM upgrade for hi-res mode. Plus you needed it to play PD, Majora's Mask and Donkey Kong 64.
