Does your northbridge have a cooling fan or just a heatsink?
Maybe the heat isn't being transfered properly. Is the heatsink hot to the touch?

^would've been cool.
thats not the northbridge.
in fact, i dont believe the northbridge ever has a temp sensor on it (correct me if im wrong.)
are you positive that this is the northbridge? does it say that in ur mobo manual? otherwise its just the ambient case temp. (thats what mine is, and all the other mobos i dealt with are...)
however, 49° is not a bad thing; unless that temp came during idle operation... just find a more efficient wat to move air around your case...
turns out that you can probably use a bulky AGP card and not have any problem from what i see... :-)
paging clocker to the service desk...

woowoo
did u put on some new thermal paste after taking off the heatsync? usually temps go a lot higher cause there won't be good contact.
anyway, ur not overclocking are you? if so, unOC it.
if that isnt it, then I think you should get some arctic silver 5, if u dont already have, and remove your northbridge cooler, then clean off the old thermal paste\pad and apply a little bit of arctic silver.
