Imo you're infected (virus & or trojan) & or registry f'd up.

a process called NPROTECT.EXE is running, thats probably related to norton i'm guessing. I just scanned for viruses, spyware, and trojans, so I'm pretty sure I'm clean on those, I'll uninstall AVG and clean out the directories and registry and get back to you in the next 15 minutes (hopefully it won't take longer then that.)

Update: I'm pretty sure all is good now, if it starts happening again I'll make sure to ask for more help lol. But yes, if it does still happen I should probably just get a different anti virus. Thanks again for all the help.... and Xero Grid... Super Trick XG us great, much better then my old hosts.

Oh, thanks. I feel so loved. B)
But, seriously, it's great that I helped some people out. I'm still trying to spread my installer, though. Hell, now that I think about it, I don't have anything to gain from it besides self-gratification.

I uninstalled norton 2 days ago and installed AVS 7.0 from suprnova... ever since then windows explorer has been crashing almost every time I've opened my "My shared folder." I just uninstalled it, I was wondering if I should go back to norton or if there is a better option, either free or on suprnova. (I looked on suprnova for NOD... I don't see it on there.)
If Windows Explorer is crashing you may have too many thumbnails in the folder. Turn off thumbnail view and switch to listing your icons and it will probably stop crashing.

You can find out how to turn thumbnails off by searching google, I'm too tired to tell ta.

Although there are about 3,000 items in the folder, most of them are in sub folders, but a good 500 of them have to be in just "My Shared Folder" and I use list view for them.

I have another explorer related problem, although its no where near as big of a deal as the last one.

The top link (which would make winamp 5.03 open the mp3s) does nothing, the bottom link, which would have media player burn them to a cd still works, and I don't give a damn about the middle link. I tried restoring all the registry entries that regseeker removed, but that didn't fix the problem. Have any idea why it might not work? I've tried re-installing winamp, uninstalling and then re-installing winamp, I've checked the file associations, but now I'm just play stumped .

Forgot to mention the problem

The problem is the top link (Play selection) does nothing when clicked, where as (as of last night) it would open the audio files in winamp.

I've never heard of that one.
You still have that option in the context menu, don't you? You can use the play in Winamp option (I forgot the exact name) until you get it fixed.
