i have this kola fan. the 8th one listed. it seems to be a very nice fan i got it out of a check printer. i tried to touch the wires in and around the 4 pin molex connertors of my power supply but no luck. is there any way i can get it going?

That fan won't work in a computer, i needs 115volts (full house voltage) so you will need to make a plug for it to plug into a wall...

sorta like clocker's muffin fans, but they did a lot of air, and were quiet to were they not?

this is what u could do:
buy a wire like this, they sell them at hardwarestores. I think the one i bought for my lam was like 5 bucks...
then you plug gotta wire it up to the koala fan, put those little cap things on it so teh wires don't touch, then plug it in and see how good it is...(noise, CFM[can't really be measured, but guess...])
even if it doesn't work, you could always just save the wire you bought for when you have a rabbit and it chews through your lamp cords.
or you could cut the wire off of an old TV or something...

Scott, given the cost of the power cord, not to mention the hassle and need to run it external from your case, wouldn't it be simpler to just get a 12v fan and be done with it?
