I have just fitted a DVD burner although I have a CDRW I can only enable recording on 1 of my drives which means that my cdrw is useless even though its faster at burning svcd's than my dvd-burner, Is it normal for this to be happening or not?

you using nero?

before you go to burn a cd, at the top choose, instead of your dvd burner, the cd writer...

ide cable, not pci cable.

being on same cable shouldn't have anything to do with it.

what do u mean by enabling and disabling them? where is this option?

Make sure that one drive is the master and one the slave.
It won't work if they're both set to the same option.

In other words check your jumpers.

In the properties for the drive enable recording on the drive, when I check my cdrw my dvd-rw disables its self and vice versa, I never thought about the master and slave setting I'll take a look inside.
