Sorry Clocker,
I'm just a Performance/Cooling nut!
I'm surprised you weren't one of the first to say how unconvenient it would be, you do have quite the reputation as a serious cooling nut![]()

DUH! K.
Of course I realize that this thing is a nightmare to work on.
Even g-gnome says that.
Keep in mind the aesthetic of the Sixties ( which is what he was paying tribute to here, after all).
Back then, computers were supposed to be wildly complex spaghetti tangles of wires and glowie bits ( very mysterious...who knew what they did?) that looked seriously daunting and powerful.
Today of course, we know better.
It would be fascinating to see what G-gnome came up with should he decide to make a seriously practical and totally functional piece of modern kit using the same dedication and attention to detail that he applied to Orac3.
But then we'd prolly all be saying " Gee, it looks really clean and I'll bet it works great, but it sure is boring".
Basically, practical criticisms of Orac3 are akin to looking at a Boyd Coddington hot rod and saying, "Well, it sure is pretty, but how does she handle in the snow?"
Who cares?

I wonder how that Orac3 would handle in snow. Ah, I guess you're right. Who cares?![]()
Its his attention to detail, time, effort, creativeness all rolled into one. He fused art and technology. Its not always about the easiest most acesable plan for the worst thing. It art.
...
I'll bet Abu would know.Originally posted by Virtualbody1234@17 June 2004 - 19:59

His HDD could outperform a Polaris.
