Can't Play Videos With Windows Media

I tried installing the k-lite codec pack and when I play avi files the screen goes blurry with green lines and stuff, but the sound works fine. I even used divx, real, avi preview, quicktime, and none of them worked as well.

I used gspot to check for codecs and I have all the codecs it says I need.

does anyone know what the problem is?

have you tried rebooting, get this http://www.videolan.org
it uses its own codec's to render video, best player for movies, it can play anything
