What's the absolute best motherboard to go with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+? Price is not an issue.

Here's a few to choose from.

The VIA K8T800 is supposed to be the best chipset ATM, but there are probably very few people on here who can confirm that yet, certainly not me.

I searched for some on new egg and I got the following results:

1. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-130-434&depa=1 << This one seemed to be the best. (MSI mobo)

2. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-127-165&depa=1 (ABIT mobo)

3. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-137-042&depa=1 (AOpen mobo)

4. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-131-491&depa=1 (ASUS mobo)

I know that ASUS tends to be the best when it comes to MOBOs (so i've heard) and I've only had experiences with ASUS and have been happy with what i've gotten. But according to the following links, not many people have tried it and it only got a 4 star rating. However, the MSI motherboard has had the most votes, and has a 5 star rating. The unfortunate thing is that I've never had experience with MSI motherboards......

What should I got with?

Yes this is what i also heard. But i would still rather buy the nforce 3 chipset, because teh nforce 2 was so good and I just hate VIA

Seems I may be a bit out of date on the chipset.

I didn't realise there was an update to the Nforce3 chipset.

If you go for a board with that chipset, make sure it has the later Nforce3 250 chipset, not the 150, which doesn't fully meet the hypertransport specs. That chipset has only been around since April, so it may be a little more difficult to find.

Motherboards with this chipset include:

MSI K8N Neo-FSR
Gigabyte GA-K8NS series (not the K8N which is the 150 chipset).
Asus K8N-E Deluxe (double check this one)
.
