after a upgrade, you have a nice fast computer, but what do you do with all the memory/processors/gfx cards?
lock them away?
throw them out the window?
or better, can you sell them on?

flogg them on e-bay or use it as a second pc.
Could use it as a
mp3 player
router/ firewall.
for the kids to play with.
paperweight.
draught excluder.
maybe even your own server.
the possibilities are endless.

But if you can sell these (old) parts on a fancy fair or any open stock market somewhere, you can get a nice price for it!
To bad, that all the stuff "we" ever purchased, has almost no value at all now....
As 4play said try to sell it in ebay. There are always loads of old components on there.Originally posted by Rocktron@18 March 2003 - 19:00

You Better Keep In Mind That I Can Read Between The Lines
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to there level and beat you with experience!!

Caring for the community !!
As my bro did, why not build a basic machine enabling an elderly grandparent to stay in email touch of far-flung relatives?"keep it in the family"
sell it on ebay......
take the money, use it to upgrade your computer more.....
personally, i really don't see how computers could benefit young children in India,
maybe I'm being ignoreant or an ass,
but seriously, I think if you're going to use the money for the needy, why not give them clothes and food instead of comuters, which they have barely any use for????
maybe the middle class people could use a computer, but I highly doubt poor children in India would have any need of a computer.....
just my opinion....
also, like somebody else said, if you ever play games at a LAN party or a LAN, using the old machine as a server is a great idea.......though no use for a fast graphics card, any basic Vodoo (lmao) card is fine for a server....
