I'm in the process of building a PC meant for Games and movie post-production work.

Between a P4 3.2GHZ and an AMD 3200+ with 64 bit processing, which is better? How high speeds do the AMD's go up to? Is 3200+ basically 3.2Ghz?

    Also,

    3D Cards,

Is The Gefoce 6800 MUCH better than the 5950 Ultra, which I'm planning on getting? will it make a huge difference in game performace for the next few months? Are there games out which don't run on high settings with the above CPUs and the 5950?

Also, what about the Radeon 10800Pro, is that better than the 6800/5950?

    Thanks

The AMD is alot better. How can u beat 64 bit processing. Its like comparing N64 graphics to SNES.

AMD will be up to 3800+ by the end of this year.

Didnt know there was such thing as a 10800pro Maybe you mean the X800

All games out now will run on my computer with medium-high settings, so they will run perfectly perfect (lol) on that computer.

6800ultra isn't that much better than 5950, but it does have pixelshader3 (direct x 9.0c) support, meaning it will be able to have more features in games soon to come than the 5950 would...stuff like better lighting, better shading, etc.

for cpu, i'd go with the 64bit processor. 3200+ should be pretty close to, if not the same as, the P4 3.2ghz, but it also allows you to use 64bit software...something which the P4 cannot do.

    Get the AMD 64 3200.

The 6800Ultra is twice as fast as the 5950Ultra Rossco, I think it is much better.

I would get the ATI X800 XT PE over the 6800Ultra. It is the faster of the 2 cards.

10800 is the same as x800, they just used roman numerals for the 10.
