how do u completely un-install windows messenger?
edit. found how to do it.
for others, start, run, paste "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove", click ok. done

kool to hear you found out how to remove it.
You shared how to remove it and did what you mentioned and now i have removed windows messenger as well. its all good!

You can also remove it, and a lot of other microsoft crap such as outlook express, using a program called XP Lite. Might wanna give it a go, see what else you might wanna remove.

As far as i know, it remoces every part that won't disrupt the OS from working...
(I don't recomend removing windows media player, after i removed it WMV files stopped playing altogether (couldn't find a codec for it) and moveis in firefox or IE (online videos) wouldn't play anymore....

Apart from creating more space does removing Microsoft products offer any benifits such as less ram used or quicker, cleaner preformance?

Some things will imporve performance, like if u dont have indexing service disabled then obviously you wil see an improvement after uninstalling it.
