Thread: I Feel Sorry For Good Ol' K-lite

True.. Every filesharing program has it's advantages.. DC is good for movies and new releases and Kazaa has good speed.. You just have to find out what fits you the best..

Can you get multi-source downloading with DC++?
Can you get K-Lite's high download speeds with DC++?
Do you like all those stupid and unfair rules made by hub operators and supervisors?
Well, i'm not sure how, but it is possible to get multiple sources on DC++... might be a mod or something, but i've seen multiple people do it, so it's possible... gotta ask them how

not to my knowledge. it has a banner though, so it has ads, but i don't think it has any spyware. my Ad-Aware has not reported any.

Use DC++ and you won't have the ads.

To get multiple sources on DC you have to mess around in your download queue settings. I've done it before, but it can be a hassle.

DC hubs have their uses...if you are looking for full ISO files (in their many flavors), then the hubs are in general the place to go...KaZaA rules for many/most files, but the hubs have things that are never seen on FastTrack...

As far as rules...well, most all the 'stupid and unfair' rules are quite reasonable and are up to the owner of the hub, that's right, the owner of the hub...

1 Minimum 2 GB Shared. No Installed Software. No VOB files.
2 At least 1 slot per Hub, and 5 Hubs Max.
3 No Fake Shares or Hacked Clients.
4 No Underage, Illegal, Rape, Incest or Animal Porn. You wil be BANNED instantly if you are found with it.
5 No innapropriate language in the main chat - and do not insult the OPs.
6 NO ADVERTISING. Advertising will get you BANNED from the entire network.
8 NO Multiple Logins from One IP.
9 NO Flooding of the main chat or in Private Messages.
10 There is a slot MAX of 5 slots while in this hub.
11 Stay in this hub while downloading.

I have no problem with those types of rules...DC is a totally different animal than FastTrack...you see anyone can run a hub, just set up the hub client on a server, and your set! just don't expect to be able to share anything, 'cause all your upstream is used by the hub...surf through the public hubs list and I'm sure anyone will find a hub or two that suits their needs, whether it be more or less rules...

Just one thing d00ds...don't run other p2p clients whilst on a hub...it severely affects your upstream in DC, and that's what it's all about right? sharing???? All I can say is this...If you come onto a hub I OP at, and get caught breaking the rulez, one of which to me is just how fast is your upstream, I'll boot your ass...if you do it again I'll permban your ass!

I've never had a problem running DC, eMule, and Kazaa simultaneously.

Persian foo. NANAT! Kazaa is for others that don't know about DC++ or have the time to learn and use and get into DC++. I'm glad that you know about it but that doesn't mean the makers or K++ and the users are K++ are wasting their time...

    Think a little.

DC and DC++ are good, but sometimes it is far easier to use K-lite. And there are no freakin requirements to get connected with someone, although I think their shouldn't be a 'disable sharing' option in k-lite anymore. I don't see why so many people have abandoned winmx though, if you're nice to people you can get great contacts and fantastic speeds. It's not the place to go if you just plan on waiting in the queue though.

Edit: Emule is definitely gaining momentum on my list of preferred programs though.

DC sux. You never get files, if you do, it takes ages. Its a terrible place to go unless you have a lot. Its still slower than emule. I have my alternatives, and id stick to them over dc any day of the week. If your looking for a universal filesharing program which has everything, there is none. Kazaa has its advantages, but dc has very little. I haven't used that program in about a year. I get my files faster than ever now.

My recommendation, do go to dc. It has not advantages to other filesharing programs.
