Click on the 'My Controls' near the top of the screen. Then look down the left side for 'Edit Avatar Settings'. There are some built in galleries to choose from.

I resized my avatar and removed a pic from my sig and all up its 54.5kb

Another way you can make your av smaller is by resizing it to 80 x 55 since thats the size it shows on the forum.

And also, in GIF construction set and other gif creator programs, you can supercompress your gif's and it deletes frames that are not needed.

hit my controls on the top center and then choose sig or avatar from the left
