I am posting this plea for a friend...I know nothing about the program myself....

Working in Publisher 2000, my friend is having a real problem with the fonts.
Seems that the option for "small caps" keeps automatically enabling itself.

I just saw this phenomonon for myself and have no idea how to fix it, or even where to begin.

We have gone to Format>small caps and unchecked the box.
Returning to the workpage, begin typing and WTF? Small caps!
Back to Format>small caps and sure as hell, the box is checked.

Tried repairing the Publisher install to no avail.
Something is telling the program that the default should be "small caps" and won't let us change it.

    Any ideas?

That would be a last ditch solution...she has a large project in progress and it would be lost.

I have run all the usual spyware progs and cleaning utilities...no probs surfaced.

Why won't this damn option stay unchecked?

Is it only in the one presentation or does it still go to small caps if you start a new one?

    OK.
    Problem solved.
I'll do my best to explain, but as I said, I don't use this program so it's Greek to me.
Plus, she's the one who figured it out.....
She was working on a newsletter.
She wanted to insert a box with information into the page layout ( "birthday greetings " as it happens).
She grabbed a box from another page and inserted it into the new page.
Apparently this "box" was a pre-formatted template and part of the formatting was small caps.
Using a different box ( plain. no formatting) allows for normal text.

Hope this makes sense to someone ( doesn't really to me, but she is happy anyway) and thanks for the replies.
