I've looked around and can't find any info. Does VirtualDub normally convert avi to wav in real time? My 1st attempt to create a VCD. The conversion was working but VirtualDub was playing the whole movie in real time. Is this normal or do I need to tweak sumptin?

Not sure why it was playing it in real time, but I know I can't wait no 10 min. If you go under options>preferences>Dub Defaults-Process Priority you can crank up the speed on conversions quite a bit. I wouldn't recommend the highest unless you won't be running anything else while you run Vdub.

Thanks.
I see what you said about cranking up the speed. I tried a couple of other files today and they were fine, less than 10 min at default setting.
I don't know what happened yesterday, but I deleted the file that was having the problem.
Now my troubles are with encoding using TMPGEnc. More fun.
