Actually I wasn&#39;t very keen on post-counts in here either. But then again I&#39;m a lounge regular.

Thing is it brought a whole new breed of complete and utter ps0t-whores in here.

There used to be threads that ran for a really long time, and worked in another way than anything current, but now it seems to me that a lot of our later additions just hit anything new, sometimes without looking when they post.

Thanks to 7th element&#39;s influence, the lounge is very different from when I joined. This is partly because of the post-count in here, and partly because threads are capped at 1000 posts. Both prevent really popular threads from running for very long.

There used to threads that had their own regulars, it&#39;s not quite the same now.

It&#39;s not how many posts you make that counts but the quality of the posts.

About 90% of my posts have been in movieworld, softwareworld and hardwareworld helping others

I&#39;m not sure I understand totally but then I never seen the system you describe in effect, I do get the general idea of what you mean though.

Sometimes post whores are a nuisance but I&#39;d hate to see them in softwareworld getting their post counts up.

By the way I seen a post that said threads are capped at 1000 because of stress on the database, but I also seen a post that said people can&#39;t change their username after 1000 posts because of stresson the database. Maybe the former is bollocks too?

@manker, I don&#39;t know about the database loads, I do know the board did work for a year at least before threads started getting capped.

As for the postcounts, I and several others suggested postcounts be removed completely. That would have removed the reason for many people to just spam anywhere.

@barfing: Aren&#39;t you happy just to see it getting bumped? if everyone just kept repeating the same thing over and over it would be pretty boring.
