Help?

I have windows xp with 2 accounts one is the admin and the other one is a limited account. well my mom enable the password for the admin account and i later find out she forgot the password.
Is there any way to change the password?

easiest way, afaik, is to do a repair install of windows.

i already tried that but right before its about to start it ask for the admin password

I don't think you know what a repair install is...

put in your xp cd
retsart the computer
let it boot from cd
press any key when it asks to
continue through setup until it asks if you want to repair an existing windows installation (don't get it confused withr ecovery console that is something totally different) then choose repair and choose the partition\drive you installed to and continue through setup.

It will be exactly like reinstalling windows except that you don't loose any programs\settings except for installed iwndows updates.(they need to be installed again)

I did what you said again but now i get this error that i did not got before

file \i386\halacpi.dll could not be loaded
the error code is 4



any ideas how to fix this

Sounds like your cd is bad. Try cleaning it.

I thank you for your help but doing all that made things worse. After I did the repair windows would not start so I had to reinstall widows again

Shouldn't have done that though...im guessing it was something to do with it not being able to read the files on your cd or something...

But that solved your lost password problem, did it not?

You should get your Mom help for her drinking problem.
Lost passwords can be serious.
