    Hey Guys,
I just installed Sygate Firewall Pro and am wondering if I should continue running Protowall or PeerGuardian. Or does the firewall take their place?

    Thanks

Sygate won't block the riaa, mpaa ect. ip adressess unless you convert them using the block list coverter Here, and add them as advanced rules. i prefer adding the advanced rules, because it uses less resources than running both. there are more detailed insructions, and more information at the blue tack webpage.

You need to select PeerGuardian plaintext, and don't copy the whole thing at once or else the converter will freeze up.

where can i get the list? i can't find anywhere in bluetack unless i register (which i'm sure isn't necessary anyway since i'm not planning to download their software)

Here is a place to download bad ip lists.

    IP ADDRESS CONVERSION

Once you've downloaded the list you want go to the Blocklist converter.

On the options page select peer guardian for the source format, and sygate advanced rules for the output format.

unzip the blocklist, open it with notepad, and paste it into the box under the "source list" tab replacing the existing text. like sausage said, You might want to convert the list in sections if your browser locks up.

When it's done click "copy output" , and paste it into a new text document.

    save it

    SYGATE ADVANCED RULES

there are about 30 rules and it takes a while enter all of them.

open sygate and click on toools>advanced rules.

    click on the "add" button.

the type a name for the rule, and make sure "block this traffic" is selected.

click on the "hosts" tab and select "ip adresses".

the converter will have divided the ip ranges into groups.

copy the first group of ranges from the text document you made and paste them in the box after "ip adresses" under the "hosts" tab.

if you want you can click on the "applications" tab and check the boxes next to the p2p applications you use. that way you can still visit those web pages, but they won't be completely bocked.

    click ok.

then just repeat this utill you have entered all of them.
I only licked you for the salt
