Is there a program that I can download to optimize the quality of the music even thou I have a AC 97 sound card????

You can use a program like Winamp. It has equalizer controls for leveling purposes, but you really can't improve the quality very much.--

Thanks I have QCD wich I think is better but I though there was going to be a software that can optimize the performance of the sound card.

Sound isn't like video, there haven't been any real improvements in the past years. So all players are virtually the same. Sound cards aren't like video cards, you can't manage them like you would manage RAM on a video card.

dude,
get WinAmp. Set its EQ to "Full bass n trebble". Get the "Enhancer" plug-in -- its free, and u r set. thios is the best sound u would get. Just try it!

As mentioned in the best mp3 on earth thread, there was a suggesstion for a small and free program called foobar2000. I dled it and wow, crystal clear audio. Also, dl music that is 192kb/s and higher.
