who the fuck has an ELECTRIC fucking shower
double tee eff

Is there another sort?

in my country, its not recommended to have any electronics near our showers/bath tubs unless your trying to kill yourself
then by all means take the hairdryer or a toaster with your next bath

sometimes I wanna take a toaster in my bath" :music1:

Couldn't work out why you don't have electric showers, they are common in the rest of the world. I was going to say something silly about having insulation.

Then it struck me that you only work on 110 volts. With electric showers rated at about 12KW, that would mean switching about 110 amps with a thermostat. Doesn't sound like a very good idea to be doing that sort of thing in a bathroom.

To be honest, switching the 52 amps we would use (at 230 volts) doesn't sound too clever either, but not as bad as 110 amps.

They tend to be more for the Add-on market.

A lot more common is to have a tank (like RossCo and VB said) or combination heat and instant hot water like this.

I got my figures wrong earlier, it is 80,000 BTU/h. But only 45,000 BTU/h (not 45 KW) of that is for water heating, just over 13 KW.

Yes you do, there should be a switch in the same place as your 'leccy meter.

If the pull cord has gone though you will more than likely need a new one, time for a trip to BBQ
this is no time for undercooked burgers and hot dogs.

danb you were right, the pully cord thing had blown inside and a trip to B&Q sorted it
