Thread: Folder Properties

  1. #1
Lots of time when I open folders (especially music folders) it seems the properties are all messed up. Sometimes it will show the files in icons and sometimes in a list and other time in details (the way I want them to be shown). The folder are not saving my settings for some reason. Its not even saving which columns i want to show up (such as Artist, Title, Length). Help?

If this doesn't happen when you close and then re-open a folder, but rather after a while not opening the folder that the view is messed in, then its prolly because Windows only remembers the individual settings for the last 20 or so folders viewed.
I believe there's a setting in the registry somewhere to change the value to a higher one, but I don't know where.

if you want all folders to be shown as a list, just set one folder's appearance as list, then go to Tools > Folder Options > View >
and click the "Apply To All Folders" button.

also, if you get tweak ui for xp, you can change the number of folder view settings that windows remembers.
