Problem With Symantec Antivirus Protection/other

Hello, everytime I try to scan my computer for viruses a error message pops up that says "Vpc 32 has caused an error in WEBSHELL.DLL Vpc32 will close". The other problem I'm having is that when I view web sites with videos or alot if things to load my computer freezes. I have DSL internet.
