Low Bandwidth Just Recently

Hye Im a new member to the site and this question may have been answered before but here goes.
For the last 6 to 8 months ive been using an early version of Kazaa Lite with no problems what so ever but probably over the last couple of months the bandwidth has been very low usually around 1 5 or 6,and me been on 56k dial up is now having to spend an age downloading stuff.
I have heard rumours of all sorts of legal stuff going on with K Lite so if that has any relevance I dont know.
Is there a cure to this problem,any advice would be appreciated...

56K Max download speed is about 6kb/s.
