Port Forwarding Etc.

I just got a new computer, and it came with norton internet security. I know that windows xp also has a built in firewall. I am hooked up to a network with a router that has a firewall. It is impossible to port forward on it, but you can create a DMZ so that it wouldnt block any incoming traffic to my individual pc. I just want to open up some ports so I can download using bittorrent and eventually emule. Can I do this with the built in windows xp firewall? Can I do this with the norton internet security? I also don't want to sacrifice safety in order to use bittorrent. Would either of these software firewalls be as safe as the built in firewall in my router? Thanks for any help.

ditch xp's POS firewall and just allow traffic in NIS
and for gods sake don't DMZ, why can't you forward your ports correctly in your router

What is NIS and is there something bad about DMZing? I am now running zone alarm pro with those ports open. Will DMZ screw up my computer or something?

It was reset a while ago or something, and now it looks nothing like that. I have looked so much for the port forwarding option, but to no avail...

My computer has been crashing a lot just now, though i dont see how this could have to do with the DMZ

its not that, but you certainly don't want to leave yourself open to hackers
if you can't find it IDK how many fucking tab's could their be, its one of them
