As Alan Partridge commented, he couldn't understand the famine thing. If they could afford to emigrate then surely they could afford to eat at a modestly priced restaurant.
Exactly so, but if spuds weren't on the menu...
A modest proposal? pretty swift.

didn't they use a lot of propaganda (history word there) in those old days when you were a kipper

In all seriousness though Gembs, I doubt propaganda would have afected J2 that much when he was a kipper. When you have to share a TV between a whole street, as was the trend in those days, you don't get to see that many news reports
J2........if you get to where.....well, if you need any devices, such as a cane, or a walker.......shower seat or anything.......just let us know and we will take up a collection, okay?

No, I'm still fairly mobile, girly.

    Nice av, BTW.

    QUOTE:J'Pol:

    You have developed boabitis *sobs*.

Did you hear about the darts competition in the pub next to the convent. The dartist (if such is the word) threw a treble twenty and a single twenty. His third dart bounced of the board and hit a carmelite sister, severing her juglar and killing her almost immediately.

The score keeper had no option but to cry (in best Sid Wadell voice), "one nun dead and eighty".

    J'Pol-

I apologize for the unintended reminder; wish he would return.

Now, about this puddle of piss under me chair....

and all i remember is the potato trick where the water moves through the potato to the sugar bit cos of osmosis

    twas a waste !!!

but the trick was quite good, for a potato
hey i remember that...we did that a couple months ago

i believe the potato is hypertonic to the sugar solution and the sugar solution is hypotonic to the potato...or is it the other way around

at any rate, the potato becomes isotonic to the suger solution by water moving via osmosis

Thats grade 12 biology for ya

    see !!

5 years of science and i still have no idea wtf you are on about !

That's 'cuz you took science, and not history, kiddo.

I was just being facetious, actually.

Years will pass before you properly appreciate the "5 years" you have invested, Gems.
i took history for 5 years too !!
After university I seriously considered teaching history. Thanks Gemby for confirming to me that I made the right decision.

If after 5 years in my class, you did not get an Irish potato famine reference there would not be enough years left in your life to do all the detention.

I was in Dublin this time last week.

They are still quite angry about it. One can tell.

    Why?

Did you take the spud in lieu of the cake?
