I know, but even if it was 100% foolproof and I knew it; I wouldn't trust myself to know that it was a 100% sure thing.
so basically I'm saying that I would sike myself out.

Do you know everything? do you know 3% of everything? Could it be that what you don't believe in is in the other 97%?
i'd take the money - if this corporation is rich enough not to miss $1,000,000 then its just money sitting around, i could put it to good use like charity

Single handedly destroying the NHS from the inside
Does the scenario imply that everyone could do this? Or is it a one time event that only you have noticed and repeat occurences (even by others) would be spotted?
If it is the former, I'd say take the money and let them be damned, you won't be the only one doing it (which is no excuse) but if they've got THAT much money they can obviously afford to finance the world and the fact that they aren't doing so is where the immorality lies.

by the way my opinion might change if my situation changed

It all really depends on the nature of the company, where the money was meant to go, and who owns the company or who stands to make a profit from leaving the money in.
I'd be more inclined to steal from the profits of a tobacco company meant to go to the stockholders(don't think I'd be working for them in the first place tho' than from the pension funds of a company that did research that saved millions of cancer victims, to mention two extremes.
Yes i would.
Im the type of guy who is not doing all ok in money. If it dose not hurt the company and it is a good company i would take the money.
I would like to think I would not.
On the other hand I am an accountant.
