Hijack This Log

Will someone please analyze my log of my Hijack this scan, and tell me if they think I should remove anything? Also, is there a way I can do this on my own safely, or some website I can use to get help with this... or is it safer to make a post everytime I scan.

Yes I did the edit on 017.... as it has my ip addy... but I suppose anyone who really wants it can get it if they truly need it.

I can rescan.... and delete what is suggested.... but I have WinXP and I dont recall ever using Safe Mode on this OS.

So, I need to know how to get into safe mode, then after I reboot in Safe Mode do I install the new version of Hijack This? And then, what is all this you listed afterwards? What is the Code... etc here?

no problem editing it, just so you recognize that as your ip range. sometimes malware can change the numbers.

oh, that's actually a link that tells you several ways to get into safe mode. hit the f8 key during the start.

while in safe mode you should try to delete the file. actually if you already fixed it, you can try deleting in regular mode (if you did reboot since fixing). sometimes that doesn't work, so that's why i usually ask folks to try safe mode first. it saves the hassle and some panic when something won't delete the first time.

just use mullyman's link to the new hijack this. and replace the old exe file.

hmmm. ok, now i'm kinda confused. did you delete the C:\WINDOWS\System32\lhfemuf.exe file? because it's in your running processes but there is no startup entry for it.

use task manager (control-alt-delete) and kill the process-- lhfemuf.exe then navigate to the file and delete it.

reboot and post a new log.

in your reply, can you be more specific as to what you did, and if you get some kind of error message?

I suppose I neglected to actually delete the file. I was under the impression when I deleted it using Hijack This... that it was actually deleting the file from my HDD.

I didn't get any errors at all, and just did as you instructed.

Anyway, I have gone into Windows directory and located the file and deleted it. I have rebooted and here is the new log:

yeah, hijack this doesn't touch the file, just removes the startup entry for it.

are you having any problems in particular?

as for your question on how you can do this yourself, i wouldn't recommend it without a ton of reading. just get to know your own and note any changes to it.

if you really want to get to know how to do this you can begin by following help forums and seeing how problems are solved. pretty soon, picking out the bad stuff will be second nature.
