Thread: Shareaza

I can't be certain, but it always seems as though Shareaza is lying about the speed that it's downloading at. I regularly get high speeds of over 100kb/s whereas on my broadband connection (adsl 512k) I very rarely get above 60kb/s when downloading from a website or another p2p.
It doesn't seem to be progressing as quickly as it should if the speed claims are accurate.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Shareaza is probably reporting kilobits/sec speeds -- so 100 kilobits/sec speeds are WELL below the 512 kilobits/sec MAX speed for your connection.

BTW, the conversion from kilobits/sec to KiloBYTES/sec is 8:1.

So 100 kilobits/sec is only 12.5 KiloBYTES/sec...which is well below the 60 KiloBYTES/sec you get from websites.

I dont like SHareaza -- u only connect to 2-3 hubs and the selection is SO poor.

I dont get why peopel like it -- it is because it supports eDonkey and bittorrent. Well, so what I d rather have the eMule ruunig by it self and the bittorrent by itself and use all the options of the original stand-alone clients ...

Shareaza is trash to me ...
