Clutch?

its a stupid question but i just wanted to know what the clutch on a vehical does.

cause my dad has it on his car, and ive got it on my ride around lawn mower. i pull it when the engines cold, it helps it start.

i wanted to know what it does.

You mean the choke, and it injects some extra petrol into the carb thing.

The clutch disengages the engine to make a gear shift possible.

I know feck all about engines, really, so some of the above is probably a bit off but I know a clutch doesn't help start an engine in the cold.

To get technical the choke, chokes or reduces air flow into the engine causing a higher ratio of fuel that is aspirated by the carburetor in the cylinder. When it&#39;s cold out you need a higher ratio of fuel mixed with the freezing air until the engine warms up.
