I just renamed "Messenger" in Program Files to "MessengerDISABLED". Stops it loading.
If I need it back just rename it back again.

I think he is talking about "Windows Messenger (MSN) " not "Messenger" the service that "Transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients and servers"
