Hi guys,

Is it legal to hold private gambling games via email?

We can invite are friends over for a game of poker but can it legally be achieved online?

What if you have a website that advertises the game and sets the rules? I would presume this would be illegal because you are advertising an unregulated gambling game to the www .

I have a fool proof idea that would appeal to everyone that likes to place a friendly bet. I can offer a 1 in 110 chance of winning $100. $10 will offer a 1 in 110 chance of winning £1000 via instant PayPal. A % will go to charity.

I would place a good bet that your $$$ will be lost if you placed a bet on the mainstream lottery.

Where is the line?

How is that foolproof?

You have to convince 110 people to trust you enough to wire you $10 and then you make $100 from the venture less the charity percentage. To convince 110 strangers to send you $10 I reckon you'd need to send out around a hundred thousand spam emails or pay money to advertise. Hardly worth it and why would anyone send you money?
