I pay £15 for mine (I'm sure you can get cheaper though).

£4 for a .co.uk domain name with 1and1 for two years looks pretty good. Is it a sound company?

    I am just wondering:

If I buy a co.uk domain, do I need to do anything special to ensure that people can access my site from throughout the world.

So if I just get the domain name with 1&1 at $5.99 per year does it include a redirect to my site and are renewels the same price. In case anyone want I currently use http://www.dyndns.org/ which has some short and easy non.com urls for free and a small popup which after Ive been bookmarked is gone anyway...

    a redirect?
It depends how you set it up.
you can do domain forwarding, and have the domain name you purchase just point to your existing webspace, or if you've already got hosting, you can set the dns settings at your registrar (1&1 in this case) to point to your host.
And yes, generally domain renewals are the same price, and your registrar will probably alert you a couple weeks prior to your domain expiring.
