So did you try a different floppy yet?Originally Posted by h121589
yea i tried it with two different types of floppys
i know wut the problem is now those Non-Name brand(The Floppy that says only HD on it) floppys dont work my floppy drive doesnt read those non-name brand floppys.
i tried FujiFilm and Imation and my floppy drive read those two floppys perfectly
Another problem is that the pins on the motherboard are damaged or broken which makes your floppy drive not work at all. Like mine!!
If it is a new floppy disk there is every chance, in this case, that it has not been pre-formatted. If this is the case then your computer will not recognise it. You will have to format it first.
If you want to do it the old fashioned way then follow this procedure:
1. Check that the drive your disk is in is actually the A: drive.
2. Go into your DOS window
3. It should show C:\
4. Type Format A: /S /V then press the return key.
5. The /S puts two hidden files on your disk. sometimes a requirement on older computers.
6. The /V Allows to to put a volume label or name to your disk.
If you dont have a DOS window or dont want to experiment then follow the Format directions described in an earlier post.
Incidentally for those amongst you who appear to ridicule. Everyone has to start somewhere. Everyone is not a computer expert.
Just to point out to the experts. There was never a 5 inch floppy disc.
The floppies were five and a quarter, Three inch(An Amstrad disaster) and the Three and a half inch disk. Still in reasonably common use.
Does this bring back memories Clocker.
P.S. This has been written with tongue in cheek. Please dont flame as I dont normally travel well.

Please take your tongue out of your cheek, it makes you incoherent and you are starting to dribble. And that will do your floppy no good at all.Originally Posted by bigboab

Thanks Lynx. That is the best thing I have heard this morning. After the last two results Scotland is badly in need of dribblers.Originally Posted by lynx
