Plenty of times, it's about 6 miles up the road from me (and before they moved about half a mile from where I worked at the time).

Don't know what the mail order is like, being so close I collect stuff myself.

none of the sites tell after how many dead pixels it will be replaced.........

you really SHOULD ask that before you buy....... you dont want to have 15 dots in your screen before it will be replaced..............

its not up to them to regulate the amount od dead pixels, its the manufacturers who set the amount, as long as it complies with the guidelines, you should be able to find the specs on the manufacturers of the monitor.

Most manufacturers replace when there are 3 or more pixels dead.

Some have a 0 pixel guarantee. But usually that costs a bit extra.

I am thinking of buying a Samsung 172x LCD.

I think you are right on that, and also any 2 adjacent pixels.

CTX, who make the one I showed, claim to exceed industry standards with replacement for 5 dead pixels on LCDs up to 17" and 7 on 19" monitors.
