My brother in law (augh, who just moved in with me, but that's a different thread for a different day) hooked up his router to my computer today so he have a wireless network going in the house and leech my bandwidth. We don't use the hardware firewall, he uses Norton Firewall on his computer and I use Sygate Pro. I just took the GRC port tests and to my surprise I have failed! It used to be all stealthy green boxes before the router, now they are all blue (closed) except for two which are open. I know nothing about routers so I don't know if that is the problem or if there is even a problem at all. So any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

It's because the router is sending back closed signals to the port tests. If you turn on the firewall on the router and forward those bad ports then they will be blocked. I wouldn't worry about it anyway.
