Thread: House Of Flying Daggers (from "Hero" director)

  1. #1
just throwing out a heads-up to fans of this kind of stuff... Zhang Yimou's latest film is scheduled for release in U.S. cinemas this Christmas. it's another colorful, poetic martial arts flick in the same vein as "Crouching Tiger" and "Hero." it stars Zhang Ziyi, with supporting roles played by Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro (two top-dog actors in recent asian movies).

the Hong Kong DVD of "House Of Flying Daggers" comes out this week, so of course DVD-rips are already available on filesharing networks.

BAH. looks like the "dvd rips" so far are actually from a pirate telecine by way of bootleg dvds. the movie's aspect ratio is 2.35:1, which is wider than 16x9 (1.85:1), but this telecine looks TOO wide... like part of the image has been cropped off of the top/bottom.

oh well, the real dvd rips should start showing up soon, since the legitimate dvd is scheduled for release in a few days.

    Hero was great.

I don't have as high expectations for this though,

but let us know when the proper rip is out.
