is it pos to convert a xvid file to divx?
if so what sofware would b used?

well it's not for me some peeps in a dif fourm was asking and I figured if any 1 would know it would b the Kazaa peeps. done a search on google but that was a waste of time.
but yea I agree with ya from bad to bad don't make sence 2 me either
the post said this: have an xvid file and would like to convert it to divx just to keep things simple (meaning I will only need one codec).

Yea well my guess is he's to lazy to DL the codecs but to dumb to realize the extra work involved.

Then why don't you explain him that he can be extra lazy if he just installs one lousy codec?
Tell him that's the easiest way.
Just give him the link to the XviD codec: Koepi's XviD Codec or Nic's XviD Codec

Yes it is but if you want to watch it on the pc keep it as Xvid. If you want divx to go to mpg for vcd then its worth doing it.

Why download a bunch of codecs when all you need is K-Lite Codec Pack. It has every codec you'll ever need!

You can use VirtualDub to encode XviD to DivX if you would really want too. But I can't think of a single argument to do so
XviD can be converted directly to mpeg too.
