    What is the best program to do this for me, to getr rid of dead links and files etc?

    ccleaner is good.
    registry cleaners are also important.

    Check my out everything guide and look at the cleanup section.

    btw, this is software not hardware.

    Imo cc is worthless. DustBuster is the king of junk file removers.

    Don't know about DustBuster,but I just used crapcleaner and it freed up 268.9MB of space

    To do a complete cleaning of your HD and erase deleted files use eraser.

    I like all of the above , but find myself using System mechanic more and more.
    Just because I like an all around tool. Its good for NOobies aswell .

    but it's italian and you can't choose what it removes, nor does anyone know what it removes, so i don't like it.

    Rossco,Its funny I never tryed the system mech. program. System sheild, neat thing deletes programs that are no longer on your system. Writes 1 's & O' s to reclaim space . I'll have to try it .
