Thread: A Good Way To Find Mp3

  1. #1
Hi everybody, instead of downloadin mp3s 1 by 1, instead of making 'album wraps' why not making a zip file, which includes all songs of the album u want??! It'd be more simple... after u just have to use winzip instead of using a wrap extractor that doesn't work really good..

    Suggestions?

what if people want an individual track from an album?
say to finish an incomplete album that they downloaded before.

its a good idea if you are after the full album but could be seen to be a waste of d/l time

As Benno put, if I'm after full albums I'll use SoulSeek. But you're right, I never understood why people don't zip up full albums - the only advantage with albumwraps is they have an mp3 extension so they come up when you search for audio.

I cant really give you an answer on this question. maybe you should start and stand up as an example.

I downloaded once a cd in .zip format but thats the only one I ever saw.

There are far too many people on slow connections (56k or slower) who will only want one song. Sure it would be easy for people to zip full CDs into one file, but then everyone would be forced to download the full CD. I would hate to download the entire zip, only to find that it contained corrupt files.

One of the reasons us 56k dailup users don't use .zip files for albums is that you can't preview them while the files are downloading.

If you can check an album mid-download you have a good chance ensuring you haven't wasted 4-6 hours downloading the wrong album due to fakes.

Another point being .zip files may include viruses in the faked albums also.

Stick to .mp3 extensions, especially on dialup. Stop the fakers!

Did you know that you can rename such a zipped (without compression) album file to mp3?

It works and you can even play this in Winamp! Strange but true.

Rename it back to zip and you can extract all the separate tracks.

The only drawback is, how do you recognize that it is a zipped album??? Any suggestions? Maybe add zipped album to the filename?
