Thread: Problem with XP

  1. #1
Hi, i've got some problems with my pc. My pc was working fine but i stupidly upgraded my windows xp home sp2 to pro sp2. I downloaded windows xp pro sp2 from the net... Now my pc is acting funny, its become very inconsistent Its become very sluggish eventhough ram usage is only 140 and cpu works at its normal speeds. The sound on the pc is strange its very jumpy and the mouse as well. Are there different requirements for pro sp2? Can someone make available a good working version of windows xp please? There's nothing like a "healthy" pc...

    Specs: 256ram Intel Celeron 1.4Gz 35gigs.

    System requirements are the same.

Just use your home copy (format) reinstall it and upgrade to SP2.

IF you were able to install it then it seems ok. upgrading from one OS to another can always cause problems.

Just make sure the disk is bootable.

put the cd in the drive then reboot go into bios and make sure the boot order includes the cd drive (before the hard drive), then reboot again. If it says "press any key to boot from cd..." then it's bootable, if not then it's not bootable (and most likely burned wrong).

just format the drive and install pro. you shouldn't have upgraded, it almost always causes problems.
