Camcorder to PC

if i wanted a camcorder which i could record video and then transfer it to pc for editing, what would i need to look for in:

a) the camcorder
b) the pc
c) the software

b) a good pc. 512MB ram etc... with firewire
c) Adobe Premiere or Pinnacle Studio

If it's a digital camera then usb or firewire will work to transfer video to the computer.
If it's an analog camera then you will need a video capture card in the computer, along with some capture software (will probably come with the capture card).

For editing...there's a lot of different apps out there and you should try a bunch to see which does what you want.
