it is a resource hogger i have found, no matter what you try to do. worse when it is checking a file after a bad shutdown.

its not Azureus, its Java that does this.
of course, worse for me caus i have a very old pc, newest upgrade was a 128mb graphics card, dunno how java is on newer machines. i have found though that when usage does start getting too much just restart the program and it seems to work fine, until it starts again that is, usually when it has finished a file for me.
Ike and rick were right, it was the java, I had to update it. ridiculous how an update can solve that. Thanks.

azureus is very feature rich, but is very bloated. i prefer lighter clients like bitcomet.
I just switched from "ABC" to Azureus. And I think it is really cool. But does anybody know why it says that I have a download speed when all I'm doing is seeding? Is that some kind of special seeding feature that I'm unaware of? Or is the program lying to me. My ratios have gotten a lot better since the switch though.
A few things you want to keep in mind. If you download alot and some of the things you download require serials, and like me, you visit sites with porn popup etc for the serials, alot of the times they have a java exploit that more times then not is picked up by norton.
Well what happens is it seems to mess up java, so that Azureus seems to go slow all the time. The only thing that I have found to fix that is a complete reinstall of java.
I second this! Azereus eats a lot of resources! Use bitcomet!Originally Posted by biggulp
Azureus does not do that, It's java that can cause that.Originally Posted by Toked
make sure you have:
the latest version of Azureus,
the latest version of Java.
if it still uses a lot of resources get the latest version of the older Java builds (1.4.2).
also check the options in Azureus. Lots of people complain when they never even seen the option menu![]()
