Yeah, you could use a program like CrapCleaner to check the registry and remove the
stuff that says about Real Player or Real Networks etc.
There's a alot of funny stories about real player on the net: Google
Edit: the link wasnt working.

real player is not that bad
If you're fine with it, im fine with that.
But no way im ever installing Real Player.
If they've done spyware in the past, im not going to
install it to check out if its "clean" now.
There's a lot sites with negative storys about that player on the net.
(The link on my previous post didnt work, fixed it.)
Here's a couple links for teh lazy ones out there: (should provide enough info about how "cool" real media is)
Real One Player - Nothing but a SPY
Taming the Real Player
For the last, just try the Megacodecpack.
To hell with Real Media.

If you did not read, it re-associated itself with every media file on my computer. And when i tried to get the files back to winamp and media player, it insisted not to, forcing me to re-associate every media file type back to windows media and winamp.Originally Posted by natedogg
After using that, and having the closing of the console that i reported before, tonight i decided to look some more, and found the real directory in my start menu, and apparently there was an uninstaller, but that file deleted some files, and now i could not formally uninstall real player. Now there is a "realplayer basic" entry in my Add Remove Programs, but it says it cannot find the uninstaller, and i already used a registry cleaner to find i had many problems in my registry. 244 to be precise. But there is still the entry in my realplayer. And when i try to change media files to see if realplayer is available, it is not in the list of programs to choose, so that is a good sign.Originally Posted by Entity101

The above doesn't work for either of us, But this worked for me. Just did some good ol' fashioned trial/error:
Do a search for .r1pclean.exe (you need to include the . in the front) or just look for it in the 'Real' folder somewhere. Double-click it. It will give you the error again but if you just click OK it will start uninstalling anyway. When it's finished, take the Real folder and drag it into the recycle bin. Then start RegCleaner and remove the RealNetworks stuff.
THATS IT!![]()
Yes, that is the problem, there is no "Real" directory in my Program files.
then when u install it don't make it take the files, and take the time to uncheck them if u don't want real player playing itOriginally Posted by orcutt989
